The Fibre Tech Process: From Start To Finish
Step 1: Pool Preparation
First, our trained Treasure Pools technicians grind the original swimming pool surface to make it smooth and contaminant-free. We fill all cracks and voids and cut seal lines around all fittings and accessories.Step 2: FibreLock Kote (FLK)
After preparing the surface, the Treasure Pools team applies the FibreLock Kote (FLK) . FLK is a unique product developed by Fibre Tech to create the strongest cohesive bond possible. FLK is designed to penetrate and "lock seal" the tiny pores in the surface of your swimming pool. This enhances cohesion of Fibre Tech , providing an ultra tight grip to any aquatic surface.Step 3: Resin Application
Next, we carefully apply the first coat of Fibre Tech resin. This resin is specifically designed for pool resurfacing. The coating bonds to the pool's surface yet remains flexible so it won't pull away, shrink or warp. Don't be fooled by companies using inferior resins that are not formulated for use in the chemically-treated aquatic environments.Step 4: Fiberglas Mat
Then the Treasure Pools team hand-lays an Owens-Corning Fiberglas mat while the first resin coat is still damp. Hand-laid mat provides consistent thickness and color, providing critical strength and flexibility to the finished product.Steps 5 & 6: Two More Resin Coats
Now our team applies a second layer of Fibre Tech resin . Special tools are used to smooth the fiberglass coating to conform to the contours of the surface, force out air pockets and combine all the layers into one. Finally, the Treasure Pools team hand-sands the surface to remove any sharp points, and a third coat of resin is applied. This final layer is what gives the surface its smooth, non-porous finish.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
Racing lanes, step highlights, etc. are applied at this time. The surface will skin dry in about 1 hour and totally cure in approximately 4 hours from application.
